Jonathan Deemer was born January 27, 1851, in Winslow Township, Jefferson County, Pennsylvania. He was the son of William Deemer, one of the pioneers of
that area. On April 6th, 1876, he married Mary E. Zetler, of Emerickville, and setttled on a farm in McCalmont Township, where they lived until about 1921, when they moved to Reynoldsville.
They were the parents of three children, Clyde, Harry, and Dora, who married W. F. Uplinger.
Jonathan died on October 28, 1933 at the home of his granddaughter, Mrs. Roy
Means. He and Mary are buried in the Moore Cemetery in Pine Creek Township.
