Amanda Truby Matson was born in Brookville, Jefferson County, PA, on January 3, 1839. Her parents were Mr.
and Mrs. Samuel Truby. Other children of that family were Samuel C. Truby and Mrs. Elisha Robinson. She married Dr. Charles M. Matson on October 27, 1864, and established a home in Brookville, where Dr. Matson
had a medical office. They raised a family of four children: Walter W, who was a doctor in Pittsburgh, Claude W., Alice J. and Carolide R. who married Fred L
. Haines. Mrs. Matson died October 4th, 1903, as the result of injuries from a fall on the sidewalk, in front of her home on Pickering Street about three weeks prior to her death. She was buried in the Brookville Cemetery. Dr. Matson died in 1917 and buried beside her.
