 Hugh Millen was born in Ireland in 1786, and died in
Jefferson County, PA, September 5, 1851. His wife was Esther Wilson, born in Ireland in 1788, and died February 20, 1853, also in Rose Township, Jefferson County. Their children were: Barbara, who married
Charles Temple; Esther, who married James Galbraith; James, who married Jane McKee; Joseph, who married Margaret McCurdy, then Mary Ann McGarey; Nancy, who married Jacob Steele; John,
who married Ann Jane Hanthorn; Mary, who married Hugh McKee Newcombe; and Hugh W., who married Mary Newcombe, then Ann E. Kinnier. On June 22, 1831, Hugh Millen, then of Armstrong County, PA,
purchased 166 acres plus 100 perches of land in Jefferson County, for $165, from the Holland Land Company. This land was part of warrant #3029, which had been surveyed for the Holland Land Company in
1829, as part of tract of 990 acres. Hugh and Esther Millen are buried in the Beaver Run Cemetery in Rose Township, Jefferson County, PA.
