 Edward Caldwell was born August 13, 1863, on the family homestead in Eldred Township, Jefferson County, PA, a son of Timothy and Jane (Steele) Caldwell, long time residents of
that area. His parent's home burned a few days after his was born, and was rebuilt on the same property. Mr. Caldwell has lived on this homestead all of his life, farming and improving the farm.
At the age of twenty-six years, he married Anna Steele. She was the daughter of William and
Margaret (Farley) Steele, and was born in Union Township.
Edward and Anna Caldwell were the parents of six sons: Ellis Clinton, Mervin Leason, Timothy
Dwight, William Edward, Joseph Russell, and Kenneth Ralph. Mr. Caldwell, died August 22, 1945, and his wife Anna, died November 23, 1945, both of them are buried in Mt. Tabor
Cemetery, Eldred Township, Jefferson County, PA.
