Isaac Lyle was born in Union County, PA, June 28, 1830, the son of Samuel and Polly (Getyer) Lyle, and came
to Jefferson County with them in 1842. He purchased and farmed 53 acres of land, and was also the postmaster in the town of Hazen. In September 1857, he married Caroline Jones, daughter of Samuel
Jones. Their children were Samuel A. and Adella, wife of John Mayes. Isaac enlisted in Company C, 2nd Regiment, served for 2 years, then re-enlisted for 3 more years. In the fall of 1864, he was
transferred to the 105th PA Volunteers and served during the war. Caroline Lyle died in 1886 and was buried in Butler Cemetery, Pine Creek Township, Jefferson County, PA. Isaac died in 1907, and was
buried beside her.
