Mrs. Hannah Ann (Gaskill) Carmalt was born in Philadelphia April 6, 1788, her father being a merchant in that city.  Her brother was C. C. Gaskill, an agent for the Holland Land Company who was representing that company in western Pennsylvania.  In 1822, she came west to visit her brother and became acquainted with Isaac P. Carmalt.  They were married on April 1, 1823, in Friends Meeting House, in Philadelphia.  Hannah died in Punxsutawney in 1880, her husband Isaac P. Carmalt died in 1888.  They are buried in Punxsutawney in Circle Hill Cemetery.  .
