John Bullers was born in 1801, at Nottingham, England, a son of Joseph and Mary Bullers. He became a lace maker at the age of 13 years. He and his wife, Elizabeth Shaw, were married in England,
and had a family of nine children. After the death of Elizabeth, John married Adeline Harrington. Her father was also a lace maker.
John and Adeline emigrated to America, bringing four sons with them. Eleven children were born after
they moved to Jefferson County. John established a homestead here, farmed the land, and was active in the timber trade.
John Bullers died in 1888 and his wife, Adeline, in 1911. They are buried in the Butler Cemetery in Pine Creek Township. .
