Jane Dick Mabon was born in the north of Ireland, on November 22, 1786. Her parents immigrated
to America in 1811. Her mother's maiden name was McLeary. The family settled in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, in the Ligonier Valley, where Jane lived until her marriage to Thomas Mabon in
1816. Thomas Mabon was from Scotland, having immigrated with his parents in 1793. Thomas and Jane made their home in Brookville, Jefferson County, and were the parents of 12 children, 3 sons and 9
daughters. Only 4 daughters survived their parents: Mrs. G. A. Jenks and Mrs. Furgeson of Brookville, Mrs. Emily Welshonse of New Florence, Westmoreland County, and Mrs. Louisa Milliken of Youngstown, OH.
Jane died in Brookville, on February 2, 1887, and was buried in the Brookville Cemetery beside her husband.
