Kate M. Scott, Civil War Army Nurse, author of "History of Jefferson County, Pennsylvania", published in
1888, the first written account of the settlement of Jefferson County. During the war, she served with the One Hundred and Fifth Pennsylvania Regiment at Camp Jameson, VA. After the war, Miss Scott authored a
history of the Regiment. She was a member of its Regimental Association, serving as Secretary from 1879-1891. In 1897, she was chosen as Secretary of a National Association of Army Nurses of the Civil
War. For her military service, she was granted a pension by special Act of Congress.
