Mr. Templeton was born
October 19, 1843, son of John and Mary (McKnight) Templeton. When he was seven years old, his father died and at the age of eleven, Thomas went to work in the office of Samuel E. McElliouse who was editor
and publisher of the "Jefferson Star". In 1861, he enlisted in the 105th Regiment, acting as a private secretary for Col. Amor A. McKnight, until 1863 when he was appointed sutler of the
regiment. He returned home in December of 1863, and went into business with his half-brother. On July 4, 1864, he married Anna Henderson, a daughter of Judge Joseph
Henderson. Anna was born in 1849 and died in 1928. Thomas L. died on March 9, 1907. They are both buried in the Brookville Cemetery.
