Jacob Little was born in Huntingdon County, PA, July 12, 1808.  His father, David L. Little, was a blacksmith.  The family were of German origin.  Jacob became a carpenter, later engaged in mercantile business in Stoystown, Somerset, then in Allegheny City.  He moved to Punxsutawney in 1852, following the same occupation, as well as lumbering.  He married Ann Shunk, dau of Issac Shunk, of Beaver County.  They were the parents of six children.  Jacob and Ann Little are buried in the Circle Hill Cemetery in Punxsutawney, PA.
