John Fiscus was born October 20, 1806, in Westmorland County, PA, the son of Jacob and Elizabeth Fiscus. He
married Barbara Ester Crate, or Grete, also of Westmorland County. Barbara was born November 14, 1810, the daughter of Philip Grete and Elizabeth Reisinger. John and Barbara Ester are found in the 1850 Census in
Clarion County, PA, his occupation being listed as a farmer. The Fiscus family eventually grew to a total of 9 children: Paul Henry, John, Elizabeth, Jacob B., James, Samuel, William, Margaret, and Francis Xavier.
John Fiscus died June 4, 1891; his wife Barbara died January 13, 1886. Both are buried in the St. Dominic's Roman Catholic Cemetery, also called the Fiscus Cemetery, on the Fiscus farm, Jefferson County, PA.
