Darius Carrier was a descendant of Thomas Carrier from Connecticut.   Thomas lived in New York State, then came to Armstrong County, near Freeport, and then settled in Beaver Township in Jefferson County.  Darius was married three times.  His and his first wife, Eliza Hetrick, were the parents of thirteen children.   He then married Rebecca Hetrick, a cousin of Eliza, and they had seven children.  His third wife was Mrs. Frances (Buell) Shepard.  They had no children.  Darius died March 21, 1892, at the age of  90 year, and is buried in the Carrier Cemetery in Clover Township, Jefferson County.
