Mr. Blake Irvin was born on September 26, 1873, one of the three children of Charles & Mary (Arthurs) Irvin. He gained
his education in the Jefferson County school system, later going to Dickinson College to study law. As a lawyer, he practiced his profession in Jefferson County, till his election
as Prothonotary of this county in 1909. He was known for his ability as an arbitrator in legal disputes. During his years in Jefferson County, he was a member of several
local organizations, including the Mason, The Elks, the Red Men, and the Moose Lodges. .Mr. Irvin never married. At the time of his death, he had invited his two sisters to join
him in Baltimore, MD, where his death was very sudden. He was buried in the Brookville Cemetery.
