Jane Steele Caldwell, was a native of Union Township, Jefferson County, PA. Jane was born  7 February on the old McCullough farm, her parents being William Anson Steele and his wife,
Hannah Houghton.
In 1853, she married Timothy Caldwell, and they had a family of eleven children, six of whom died
while young. The five remaining children were Anna E., wife of J. H. Moore, Fillmore, James H., David, and Edward.
Mrs. Caldwell died 22 Feb 1901, and is buried in Mt. Tabor Cemetery, Eldred Township, near
the town of Sigel, PA. Her husband is also buried in that cemetery.
