H. H. McAninch was an early settler of Beaver Township, Jefferson County, having come from Dauphin County, PA. He settled on land near Ohl and established a home for his family. Shortly thereafter he was joined by his brother, William McAninch and his family, who moved to Jefferson County from Armstrong County. H. H. McAninch died May 15, 1875, aged 56 years, 1 month, and 5 days, and is buried in the family grave yard on the McAninch homestead in Beaver Township.
